BIO
JC was born in Santa Ana, CA, and studied Music Arrangement & Composition at Fullerton College from 1984-1987. His studies revolved around classical guitar, jazz guitar, Baroque counterpoint, and Jazz/Swing Big Band arrangement. Along with his music degree, he also received certification in Music Recording/Production. This was followed by a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from CSU Chico, where he was the Manager for the campus radio station KCSC. The radio station was voted best college radio station in the US by SPIN Magazine in 1990.
The following years saw JC performing in everything from Top 40 bands for weddings, to jazz ensembles and studio session work. He also started working in the wholesale and retail world of music. He began as a regional sales representative, and then worked up to national and international sales. As a representative, he's worked at several trade shows in the industry including NAMM Anaheim, NAMM Nashville, Musikmesse Frankfurt Germany, and Music China in Shangai China.
Longing for a return to his original love of music composition, JC decided to go back and start making music. His music contacts in the industry led him to publishers that helped with his early placements. In 2016, he dedicated his efforts to learning orchestration techniques by Anton Bruckner through Peter Alexander's film scoring course. And, in 2017, he received private orchestration training from Bruce Miller (Frazier, Becker, Wings, Designing Women, Knots Landing). Since 2015, he's had over 230 published works, with music placements in 140 episodes spanning 7 different TV shows and docuseries.
